Tibor Bárány, kendo 6th dan                                        

Tibor has been practicing kendo since 1985.  He began his training with the Budapest Főnix Kendo Club, but has traveled to Japan and they United States many times to study kendo.  He has taught kendo at Michigan State University (USA), University of Zulia (Maracaibo, Venezuela), at Triscele Kendo Club, Sicily, Croatia and in Greece.  A four-time Hungarian champion, his team has won both the European Championship in 2002 in Nantes, France and World Championship in divison B in 1997 in Kyoto, Japan.  Until 2008, he was a member of the Hungarian national team for 17 years straight, and had been the team captain for many of years.  In 2003, he obtained a certification as a kendo sport instructor.  In 2000, he successfully passed the 5th dan examination in Kitamoto, Japan, and passed the 6th dan examination in 2006.

Zsolt Vadadi, kendo 6th dan                                           

Zsolt began practicing kendo with the Budapest Főnix Kendo Club in 1985.  He has traveled to Japan several times in the course of his studies, and in 1990 he trained in kendo, iaido, kyudo, and jodo on a one-year scholarship in Japan.  A two-time Hungarian champion, he became European Champion in 2002 and was a member of the national team numerous times.  He holds 2nd dan in iaido, shodan (1st dan) in jodo, and shodan in kyudo.  Zsolt obtained a certification as a kendo sport instructor in 2003.

He is also the president of the Hungarian Kendo Federation and a member of the National Sports Association Marketing Committee.  In 2005, he passed the kendo 5th dan examination in Kitamoto, Japan, and in 2007 he passed the kendo 6th dan exam at the European Kendo Championships.

Dr. Zoltán Bárány, kendo 5th dan                                 

Zoltán has been playing kendo since 1985, when he joined the Budapest Főnix Kendo Club.  He was a Hungarian National Champion in 1992, and a member of the national team on many occasions.  Zoltán passed the kendo 4th dan exam in Kitamoto, Japan, and successfully took the 5th dan exam in 2006.

Árpád Aranyossy, kendo 4th dan                                        

Árpád has been involved with the Budapest Főnix Kendo Club since 1983, and one of the founders of the Hungarian kendo.  He was a member of the first Hungarian kendo delegation to Kitamoto, Japan in 1987.  As the first official secretary of the Hungarian Kendo Federation, he spent many years developing kendo in Hungary.  He obtained his 4th dan in kendo at the 19thEuropean Kendo Championship, which was held in Budapest.

Szabolcs Gasparin, kendo 4th dan                                        

Szabolcs began playing kendo in 1999, in Salgótarján, Hungary.  He moved to Budapest for his university studies and began training with the Budapest Főnix Kendo Club.  In 2005, he won a year-long scholarship to study at Kokushikan University, Japan, where he studied kendo and budo culture.  He has been a member of the Hungarian national team since 2003, and was the Hungarian men's national champion in 2005. Participated in the making of the film called "4 dan" as a lead actor, though Szabolcs is not a professional artist.

Márk Matus, kendo 3rd dan

Márk began practicing kendo in 2001, in Karlsruhe, Germany.  Following his university studies he returned home, and has been a member of the Budapest Főnix Kendo Club since 2002.  In 2007, he obtained a certification as a kendo sport instructor.  Since January 2007, he has been our club's instructor for adult beginners.  He successfully passed the 3rd dan kendo exam in 2008. He leads training for advanced adults since January 2009. Participated in the making of the film called "4 dan" as the "Phantom".
